Trailed PTO Air-Blast Orchard Sprayer 600–1000L for Fruit Farms

The GRANDEMAC FQS Series Trailed PTO Air-Blast Orchard Sprayer is designed for plant-protection spraying in apple, cherry, pear and other fruit-tree orchards. It combines tractor PTO power, a diaphragm pump, an axial air-blast fan and multiple non-drip cone nozzles to deliver spray mist throughout the tree canopy.

The series includes three models: FQS6A/600, FQS7/1000A and FQS8/1000A. Tank capacities are available in 600L and 1000L, while fan diameters range from 600mm to 800mm. This allows orchard operators to select a configuration according to tractor horsepower, orchard size, tree height and canopy density.

Unlike a three-point mounted sprayer, the FQS series uses a trailed drawbar structure. The chemical tank, pump, fan and spraying system are supported by the sprayer chassis and pulled behind the tractor. This configuration is suitable for larger liquid capacities and longer spraying operations across commercial orchard blocks.

With adjustable spray pressure, different fan capacities, 10 or 12 non-drip nozzles and a separate circuit-washing system, the FQS Series is built for routine orchard pest and disease management where spraying coverage, operating capacity and convenient cleaning are important.

How the Air-Blast Sprayer Works

The FQS orchard sprayer combines liquid pressure with high-volume airflow.

During operation, the tractor PTO provides power to the spraying system. The diaphragm pump draws spray liquid from the main chemical tank and supplies it to the nozzle system under pressure. The double-head cone nozzles atomize the liquid into fine spray droplets.

At the same time, the axial fan generates a strong air stream behind the sprayer. Instead of relying only on liquid pressure to carry droplets toward the trees, the airflow transports the spray mist into the fruit-tree canopy.

This air-assisted process is particularly useful in orchards because fruit trees have multiple layers of leaves, branches and growing shoots. Spray directed only at the outer canopy may not easily reach internal foliage. The air-blast fan helps move droplets between branches and through different canopy layers.

The three FQS models use different fan diameters and airflow capacities, allowing the spraying system to be matched to different tree structures.

FQS6A/600 uses a 600mm fan with 12,300 m³/h airflow. FQS7/1000A increases the fan diameter to 700mm and airflow to 15,800 m³/h. The larger FQS8/1000A uses an 800mm fan with 25,400 m³/h airflow.

After spraying, the separate circuit-washing tank can provide clean water for flushing residual chemical solution from the pump, pipelines and nozzles before the machine is stored or prepared for the next application.

Main Components

Main Chemical Tank

The chemical tank stores the pesticide or other spraying solution used during orchard operation.

The FQS6A/600 is equipped with a 600L main tank, while the FQS7/1000A and FQS8/1000A use 1000L tanks.

A smaller tank reduces overall machine size and is more suitable for smaller tractors and orchard blocks. A 1000L tank provides longer operation between refills for larger commercial orchards.

Diaphragm Pump

Each FQS model uses a diaphragm pump selected according to the capacity of the machine.

  • FQS6A/600: GMB81, 78 L/min

  • FQS7/1000A: GMB130, 125 L/min

  • FQS8/1000A: GMB150, 140 L/min

All three pumps have a listed working pressure of 40 bar.

The pump provides continuous liquid delivery from the tank to the spraying system. Increasing pump capacity across the three models corresponds with the larger tank, fan and nozzle configurations.

Axial Air-Blast Fan

The axial fan generates the airflow required to carry spray droplets into fruit-tree canopies.

Three fan configurations are available:

  • 600mm / 12,300 m³/h

  • 700mm / 15,800 m³/h

  • 800mm / 25,400 m³/h

The required airflow depends on tree size and canopy density. Smaller fruit trees may not require the largest fan, while taller and more developed canopies can benefit from a higher-volume airflow configuration.

Double-Head Cone Nozzles

The spraying system uses double-head non-drip cone nozzles.

Available rotatable orifice sizes are 1.2mm and 1.5mm.

FQS6A/600 and FQS7/1000A are equipped with 10 nozzles, while FQS8/1000A uses 12 nozzles.

The cone spray pattern helps atomize liquid for orchard spraying, while the non-drip construction is intended to reduce residual liquid dripping when spraying stops.

Circuit-Washing Tank

A separate washing tank is included for flushing the spraying circuit after operation.

Clean water can be circulated through the pump, pipelines and nozzles to remove residual spray solution.

This is useful when changing chemicals, completing the day's spraying work or preparing the machine for storage.

Hand-Washing Tank

The sprayer also includes a separate hand-washing water tank.

This provides operators with an independent clean-water source during field spraying work rather than using water from the chemical tank.

Features & Advantages

Trailed Drawbar Configuration

The FQS series is pulled behind the tractor rather than being fully supported by a three-point hitch.

This makes the design suitable for the relatively large 600L and 1000L tanks used in the series.

The sprayer chassis supports the machine and liquid load while the tractor provides towing and PTO power.

PTO-Powered Operation

No separate engine is required for the spraying system.

The tractor PTO supplies the working power, allowing the sprayer to operate as part of the farm's existing tractor equipment system.

The FQS6A/600 requires at least 15HP, while the two 1000L models require tractors of at least 35HP.

High-Volume Canopy Airflow

The air-blast fan provides airflow from 12,300 to 25,400 m³/h depending on model.

This gives growers several airflow levels rather than a single fixed fan specification.

For larger or denser fruit trees, the FQS8/1000A provides the strongest air-blast configuration in the series.

Adjustable Spray Pressure

Spray pressure can be adjusted from 0 to 4.0 MPa.

This allows the operator to configure spraying according to the selected nozzle, tree canopy and actual working requirements instead of using one fixed pressure for every application.

Minimum 10-Meter Spray Range

The listed spraying range is at least 10 meters for all three models.

Combined with the high-volume fan, this provides the reach required for typical fruit-tree spraying operations.

Non-Drip Nozzle System

Residual liquid loss can occur when conventional nozzles continue dripping after the control system is shut off.

The double-head nozzles used on the FQS series have a non-drip design intended to reduce this unnecessary discharge.

Choice of 600L or 1000L Capacity

The FQS series provides two main tank sizes rather than one standardized capacity.

The 600L configuration is suited to smaller orchard operations and lower-horsepower tractors.

The 1000L configurations allow larger areas to be sprayed between refilling stops, making them more appropriate for commercial fruit farms and longer daily spraying schedules.

Integrated Cleaning Configuration

The combination of a main chemical tank, circuit-washing tank and hand-washing tank makes the equipment more practical for repeated field use.

The operator can clean the liquid circuit after spraying without depending entirely on an external water source at the orchard.

Applications

Apple Orchards

Apple trees can develop dense foliage and complex branching during the growing season.

The air-blast system helps transport spray droplets through the canopy rather than concentrating application only on external leaves.

Different fan options allow growers to match the sprayer to younger plantations or larger mature apple trees.

Cherry Orchards

Cherry orchards are another key application of the FQS series.

Air-assisted spraying helps distribute fine droplets between branches and foliage during routine pest and disease treatment.

The 600L model can serve smaller orchard operations, while 1000L machines provide longer working periods for larger cherry farms.

Pear Orchards

Pear trees can also develop broad and relatively dense canopies.

The combination of cone nozzles and axial airflow provides a mechanized spraying solution for plant-protection applications in commercial pear production.

Commercial Fruit Farms

For larger fruit-growing operations, tank capacity becomes important because every refill interrupts spraying.

The FQS7/1000A and FQS8/1000A carry 1000L of spray liquid, reducing refill frequency compared with the 600L model.

Their higher pump outputs and fan capacities also make them suitable for larger daily spraying workloads.

Agricultural Spraying Contractors

Contractors working across multiple farms may encounter different orchard sizes, tree heights and tractor configurations.

The three-model FQS range provides different capacities for this type of varied work.

The trailed structure is also suitable for movement between orchard blocks and repeated commercial spraying operations.

Operation & Maintenance

Before operation, connect the sprayer drawbar securely to the tractor and check the PTO shaft connection.

Inspect the pump, pipelines and nozzles for leaks before filling the main tank with spray solution.

During spraying, adjust operating pressure and tractor movement according to orchard conditions. The maximum listed driving speed for the FQS series is 30 km/h, but actual spraying speed should be selected according to the required application conditions rather than road transport speed.

The pump should not be operated without liquid.

After spraying is complete, use clean water from the circuit-washing system to flush residual chemical solution from the pump, pipelines and nozzles.

The nozzle openings should be checked regularly to ensure that spray output remains unobstructed. Pump and PTO components should also be inspected as part of normal equipment maintenance.

Operators should use appropriate protective clothing and follow the handling requirements of the agricultural chemicals being applied.

FQS6A/600

The FQS6A/600 is the compact model in the series.

Its 600L tank, 600mm fan and minimum 15HP tractor requirement make it suitable for smaller orchard blocks and users operating compact tractors.

FQS7/1000A

The FQS7/1000A increases tank capacity to 1000L and uses a 700mm fan.

With 15,800 m³/h airflow and a 125 L/min pump, it provides a balanced configuration for medium and large commercial orchards.

FQS8/1000A

The FQS8/1000A is the highest-airflow model.

It combines a 1000L tank, GMB150 pump, 12 nozzles and an 800mm fan producing 25,400 m³/h airflow.

This configuration is particularly suitable when trees are taller, canopies are denser or stronger air assistance is required.

How to Select the Right Model

Selecting an orchard sprayer should begin with the tractor already available on the farm.

For tractors from 15HP, the FQS6A/600 provides the appropriate starting configuration. Farms operating tractors of at least 35HP can consider the larger 1000L models.

The next factor is orchard size.

A 600L tank may be sufficient where orchard blocks are relatively small or a water and chemical mixing point is nearby. Larger farms can reduce refill interruptions by selecting a 1000L model.

Tree canopy is also important.

The FQS7/1000A provides 15,800 m³/h airflow from its 700mm fan, while the FQS8/1000A increases airflow to 25,400 m³/h with an 800mm fan. For taller or denser trees, the higher-airflow configuration provides greater air movement through the canopy.

Daily workload should also be considered. Agricultural contractors or commercial farms spraying large orchard areas generally benefit more from the higher-capacity models.
